Britney: For the Record
Written by Suzanne on November 29, 2008 – 1:06 pm -Only in Hollywood can you go from shaving your head in front of the paparazzi, losing custody of your kids, and wearing a pink wig at Rite Aid to winning awards, touring Europe, and talking about it on MTV.
Britney: For the Record will be airing on MTV, Sunday, November 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Finally, we can find out what the hell was going on in the mind of Britney Spears! MTV says, “This ain’t no tabloid expose.”
I’m positive if I was in Britney’s dance shoes I would have lost it years before she did. No matter how much money or fame a person acquires, we are all human and deserve the right to run into Starbucks sans makeup without getting our picture taken. If I had the paps following me from park day to play date to Target, I’d probably be attacking with an umbrella too.
THIS JUST IN:

Miracle on 34th Street
Written by Suzanne on November 26, 2008 – 9:03 am -
When I think of Thanksgiving Day movie scenes, I think of Miracle on 34th Street, the original from 1947. It starts off at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and moves right along into the holiday shopping season. An original story, with an all star cast including young Natalie Wood, Maureen O’Hara, Edmund Gwenn, and John Payne.
There’s just something about this picture that I can’t really explain. Why it’s hilarious, delightful, romantic! Oh it’s even charming, tender, exciting! Yes, and groovy! Let’s take a peek at this classic trailer starring a few famous celebs from the 1940’s.
Don’t forget to watch the historic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade while your peeling potatoes!
Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving! Thank you.

Dr. Pepper’s All Around
Written by Suzanne on November 23, 2008 – 9:07 am -Dr.Pepper has to make good on their deal with Guns-n-Roses now that their long awaited new album “Chinese Democracy” is out!
According to Wikipedia:
-On March 26, 2008, Dr Pepper announced a plan to give everyone in America—except the band’s former guitarists Slash and Buckethead—a free can of Dr Pepper if the band released Chinese Democracy before the end of 2008. Rose added, “As some of Buckethead’s performances are on our album, I’ll share my Dr Pepper with him.”[34] [35]. With the announcement from GNR in regards to a release date in November, Tony Jacobs, Dr Pepper’s vice president of marketing for Dr. Pepper, announced a free soda coupon campaign for 24 hours on Sunday, November 23rd, 2008.-

5 Unwanted House Guests
Written by Suzanne on November 21, 2008 – 8:51 am -
It’s time to break out the China, polish the silverware, and change the sheets on the guest bed. Many will be entertaining this holiday season and I’m sure all of your holiday guests will be nothing but pleasant. The following unwanted visitors can show up uninvited 365 days a year.
Dust Mites
Oh it looks harmless enough, those big billows of dust that flicker in the sunlight, yet lurking inside are tiny little dust mites ready to take over every corner of your happy little home. Viewer discretion is advised, this video may make you want to live in a bubble:
Mildew
Heed Vincent Price’s warnings, keep your lavatory clean, or did he say laboratory!
Carpet Stains
Watch out for those red wine stains, your holiday guests might leave the party, but the stains could last a lifetime. Learn from the experts by clicking here.
Bed Bugs
National Geographic Channel tells us that mom wasn’t kidding when she said, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite!”
Imposing Relatives That Don’t Mean to Impose
Maybe you’re expecting that long lost cousin to park the RV on the front lawn, but it still can be inconvenient sharing living space with guests during the holiday season. Luckily, the worse case scenarios only happens in the movies. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation will get you in the holiday spirit, or make you want to leave the country before your family gets there. Click here to view trailer.
Jim Henson’s Doodle Dreams
Written by Suzanne on November 19, 2008 – 8:50 am -While wandering around Target last night looking for a new shower curtain liner, I found a little gem of a book called Jim Henson’s Doodle Dreams. The front cover says, Inspiration for Living Life Outside the Lines. Being the Jim Henson admirer that I am, I just had to pick one up for myself.
The featured art is by Jim Henson while the text comes from writer/producer Jim Lewis. Lewis was a former Jim Henson Company staff writer.
According to Muppet Wiki:
“Lewis was the Muppets’ primary in-house writer, contributing to countless interviews, promotional material and Muppet appearances. He was responsible for a large amount of web content and a great many of the press quotes attributed to the Muppets, and he also wrote much of the Gonzo/Rizzo/Kermit material on the Muppets from Space DVD commentary. In this capacity, Jim Lewis contributed a great deal to maintaining the tone and consistency of the Muppet characters in the years since Jim Henson’s death.”
Jim Lewis has written for Kermit, Miss Piggy, and various other Muppets for more than 20 years. He helped Kermit the Frog with his recent, top selling autobiography, Before You Leap: A Frog’s Eye View of Life’s Greatest Lessons.
Doodle Dreams is a great stocking stuffer for any Jim Henson fan, and anyone who is inspired to live life outside the lines. Click me for more inspiration from two pop culture icons, Kermit & Debbie Harry.
“Life’s like a movie, write your own ending. Keep believing, keep pretending.”-Jim Henson

Happy 80th Birthday to Mickey Mouse
Written by Suzanne on November 18, 2008 – 11:55 am -“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing-that it was all started by a mouse.”—Walt Disney
Mickey Mouse is 80 today. Ahh to be 80 and still look the same, or even better than you did the day you were born. The only other character who has experienced that in life might be Jack LaLanne.
Check out this retro clip of Michael Landon and friends telling the story of The Birth of Mickey Mouse:

Weezer
Written by Suzanne on November 16, 2008 – 9:00 am -My admiration for Weezer started when I watched their Buddy Holly video way back in 1994. They managed to rock out on stage at Arnold’s with the characters of Happy Days. A band that can time travel through the boob tube is uber cool in my book.
Then I found out they made a song called Suzanne. You may remember it from the closing theme to the 1995 movie Mallrats. I’m a sucker for songs with my name in it so the admiration carried on.
Their latest album, Weezer, a.k.a. The Red Album was released in June, 2008. My favorite song on this album is the catchy tune, Troublemaker. Listening to this makes doing dishes fun again! Ironically this video is all about breaking world records which I recently tried to do. Looks like they had more success than I did.
Here’s internet celeb, Tay Zonday helping Brian Bell with an acoustic version of Weezer’s song Pork & Beans:

The 5 on Friday: Lean on Me
Written by Suzanne on November 14, 2008 – 9:27 am -So I didn’t hit the world record yesterday for the most comments on one post but I did hit a new HIH record. I want to thank everyone that stopped by and left a comment.
Seeing all the original and sincere comments got me thinking about the song by Bill Withers called Lean on Me. The idea of sending out a request and having people answer it is a powerful demonstration of the human spirit. This may sound corny, but in these times of economic stress, this is a motto that many of us will need to live by.
So today’s The 5 on Friday is:
5 Variations of Lean on Me
LHS Rockafellas
This high school a capalla band really knows how to rock an assembly:
Two Guys from the UK and a Guitar
If you’re looking for a wedding band and you just happen to be in the United Kingdom, Rumour Has It these guys play at weddings.
Cover by Ben Deignan
Ben Deignan covers this classic tune from his living room.
Lean on Me, The Movie
Morgan Freeman stars in this biographical film from 1989. The movie is loosely based on the life of Joe Clark, an inner city high school principal in New Jersey that helps save the high school with his sincere desire, and tough love techniques. The real Joe Clark went on to become a motivational and key-note speaker.
Steven Tyler Sings
Aerosmith’s lead man, Steven Tyler, sings with a little help from his choir friends at the Church of Today in Detroit.

Guinness World Records Day
Written by Suzanne on November 13, 2008 – 8:16 am -November 13th, is Guinness World Records Day, the worldwide annual celebration of breaking and setting a record. This should not be confused with Guinness World Drinking Day, if there is one.
I remember looking through the Guinness Book of World Records as a kid, and trying to come up with the new record for anything. I tried jumping on one foot, walking backwards, chewing the most amount of gum, catching coins off my arm like The Fonz, but I was never successful.
From amazing to shocking, these records are a testament to the interesting world we share together. These days the infamous records book can be viewed in more ways than one. The Guinness World Records 2009 book comes with a pair of 3D glasses to view more than 20 3-D photographs, and sports an eye-catching ‘sunburst’ holographic cover. You can even get interactive with the GWR the video game!
Here’s a vid from Guinness World Records Day 2007:
Have any ideas what world record you’d like to beat? Leave a comment and tell us! HIH can win the Most Comments on a Blog Post record.
