Can’t Do a Little Cause You Can’t Do Enough
Written by Suzanne on April 13, 2010According to my stat analyzer the average viewer has been staying on my site for 24 seconds. If that’s not enough to make me throw in the dish towel I don’t know what is.
Having a blog/site is a tricky thing. This got me thinking about the theme song to H. R. Pufnstuf:
“H.R. Pufnstuf, whose your friend when things get rough. H.R. Pufnstuf, can’t do a little cause he can’t do enough”
When I first started this site it was a bit like Jimmy sailing away:
“Once upon a summertime
Just a dream from yesterday
A boy and his magic golden flute
Heard a boat from off the bay
“Come and play with me, Jimmy
Come and play with me.
And I will take you on a trip
Far across the sea.”
It’s been almost 2 years now posting my ideas that originate from the pop culture synapses in my brain. I’ve had a great time sailing away into cyberspace. I’m still sailing even if I only get a 24 second viewing most times. For those of you that like to stay awhile how about watching the 1st episode of H.R. Pufnstuf with me. You know who you are.

i happen to LOVE your website and it gives me a GREAT reprieve from a not so pleasant environment. to come here and check out your latest and greatest pop culture experiences and ideas (as well as chatting with you) is one of my favorite things to do. so DO NOT get any ideas of “kicking the online habit.”
and a really REALLY good band once said, “everything counts in large amounts.”

LOL such is the interweb, people look for little pellets of data, and scurry off looking for the next fix. Which is why StumbleUpon is so awesome.
You could spin it that your viewers are so smart that they read and digest the whole article quickly.
Pufnstuf seems cool am watching it now, I haven’t seen it before as I didn’t have TV as a kid. LOL, oh the days when the stoner counter culture was still counter culture. They only had to put the thinnest of veils to cover their tracks. This seems like a great show to pufnstuf to.
… 23 … 24 and my time is up!

@Chad why thank you I appreciate your words of encouragement. ;) Maybe I’ll just wash that dish towel instead of throwing it out. lol
@petemayo I was just a toddler when this show aired but lucky for me I was never too far away from reruns on my rabbit eared TV.

Hey, I have to be here more than 24 seconds. Although i get a little ADHD and start typing my comment while the youtube plays…then forget and hit submit – thus resetting the whole thing. lol
I hope you keep going, I’d never find this stuff on my own.
What’s the site analyzer? I consider getting a counter, but I don’t want it counting me…have they gotten that smart yet?

That was AWESOME! The kids actually sat through the entire episode and wanted to know whenit came on regular TV! Thank you my sista from another mista! I thought I was the only one with these synapses in my brain:)

I read really fast but I do read every entry! Sometimes seconds is all it takes.

@Mel ah another speed reader! I suspected as much.
@Evonne oh that’s great! My kiddo doesn’t sit through most retro programming. SIGH
@Angela like I’ve said before I think you deserve the Best Viewer award here on HIH ;)
site analyzer works with Word Press I think & it helps track what posts people read the most, shows views, average time on site. The counting shouldn’t be the user/site owner itself so yes they are that smart. :)

Don’t ever stop writing. Personally, I don’t have a lot of respect for many pop culture based sites. Its usually a combination of ambition + jealousy = professional rivarly. However, I happen to really enjoy your writings. I often feel that you seem to “get it” while others don’t. I don’t know if you know what “it” means, but I’d hope you do.
You are fun and quick to read. Maybe not 24 second quick, but pretty quick. Don’t change.
However, over at PCA we don’t worry about how long people are on the site. We pay attention to how many hits we get a day/month + how many people are coming back. How do you fare in that department? I guarantee the results are better. If they aren’t then I’ll just have to come back more often and stay much longer.

@Sam thanks so much! You know I’ve never been one for tallying hits, visits etc… boggles my mind. lol I take a peek every once & awhile. When I was out & about active on MySpace & twitter I was making cyberfriends & of course that brought over more guests. These days I’ve had more dishes to do and more dust bunnies to catch. Watch out I’ll start singing The Byrds… “to everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn…”
