The word on the Cyber Street is Robert Downey Jr. playing Sherlock Holmes in the new movie premiering on Christmas Day. Photos and the trailer for the film are popping up all over the place. View the trailer now by clicking here.

After watching the trailer my mind was jolted back into thinking about Sherlock Hemlock from Sesame Street. Do you remember him, The World’s Greatest Detective? When he found a clue he’d shout out E-GAD. I do that these days when I look at the grocery bill.

I was a bigger fan of The Count but here is a fun clip of Sherlock Hemlock, Bert and their friend John John counting. I wonder what John John is up to these days?

If you enjoyed that trip to Sesame Street visit the official YouTube channel for more vids like these. Here’s a song that will stick in your mind from morning till night. You might forget the name though.

You know, I was 30 years old before I realized that Bert and Ernie were gay…(not that there’s anything wrong with that).

  2. James Says:

Oh, and I was a huge fan of the count…I still occasionally count like him! one,ah-ah-ah…

  3. Suzanne Says:

@James thanks for coming over. Ah ha 1…1 more fellow Count fan ah ah ah!

You’ve been on a nostalgia trip lately, huh? That’s fun. The 1970 post from a few days ago got me thinking about my own experience as an 8-9 year old at the time… the vivid pop culture memory for me was HR Pufnstuf, and yeah, Electric Company too, and Zoom! (But not Sesame Street – I was already too old for it by the time it came on TV.)

  5. Suzanne Says:

@Dave Oh yes HR Pufnstuf, Electric Company. Good times!
I take strolls down memory lane frequently. If you sift through my archives you’ll see what I mean.

  6. Dave Blakeslee Says:

Yeah, Good Times too ;) – JJ Walker, Dyn-o-Mite! (that was more mid-70s though) :o)

  7. Jessica Says:

You know who else I dug…Roosevelt Franklin. Remember him? He was purple and kind of a bad ass in his elementary classroom–he wore a striped turtleneck.

OH OH…and Don Music. He would bang his head on his piano in frustration. Loved him!

  8. Suzanne Says:

@Jessica oh yeah Roosevelt was a cool dude!

  9. Celia Pleete Says:

OH MAN!!! I remember these clips. RIP David! Old Northern Calloway was a great Sesame Street guy…

  10. Tasha Says:

OMG…I loved Sesame Street as a kid. I’ve watched it with my two munchkins, but it’s just not the same. Too much Elmo and my favorite characters are gone :(
