Keeping Kool

Written by Suzanne on August 2, 2008

Today was a hot summer Saturday and my family could have used some good old fashioned Kool-Aid. Oh yeah!

I didn’t realize Kool-Aid had been around for so long. This commercial shows the perfect housewife offering her family the very best drink she ever made.

I remember this commercial from the 70′s. The little girl was a popular actress in commercials and other movies but I can’t recall her name. She did a cameo on Little House on the Prairie as a new girl in Walnut Grove. Anyone else remember her name?

I must have been a mom too long,I watched the kool-Aid guy bust through the fence and thought, if he did to my fence,I’d be pretty ticked, maybe a lawsuit even lol.
I found your blog from The Vintage Housewife and popped over to visit,
    I’ve enjoyed reading thru it:)

@Donna thanks for visiting and come back soon. I know what you mean about breaking through the fence I had a similar mom thougt when I heard the 50′s mother say “it’s so pure and good”
good yes but Red #40 is anything but pure. LOL

My earliest memories of Kool-Aid are from my Brownie/Girl Scout Days. The snack at the end of every single meeting was always Kool-Aid and chocolate chip cookies. Later on I remember having packets of the stuff in a drawer to mix up for the kids. You could buy them for something like 10 packs for $1.00, so couldn’t go wrong on the price. Then one day when opening a package, I somehow accidentally inhaled the powder and thought, gosh this stuff can’t be good for a person. I replaced Kool-Aid with iced tea which came out to be just as economical. After doing some reading, I understand that Kool-Aid makes an excellent clothes and yarn dye. I prefer to wear my Kool-Aid than to drink it.

I liked that little Kool-Aid song but I never cared much for Kool-Aid. It tasted kind of sweet or something. I preferred to have the Coca Cola.

The little girl is Kim Richards. She has a long and interesting biography. ( http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001668/ ) She’s still a young woman, and going strong. She’s currently appearing in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” She’s Paris Hilton’s aunt.

Well hello Guest. You know I thought that before too but this is another child actress that did a cameo on Little House. Still unsure of her name. I’ve been watching the Real Housewives of BC lately.
Kim Richards part was a young girl that needed special shoes. The “unknown actress” in the above video sold her long beautiful blond locks in her Little House cameo. Thanks so much for stopping by.

    I think I found her. Rachel Longaker. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0519249 .

She has all the right credits, but I cannot find a photo of that girl anywhere.
