5 Eighty’s Comebacks
Written by Suzanne on September 12, 2008 – 8:44 am -The funny thing about the 80′s is people laugh at the big hair photos, dis the big belts, lace gloves, or Molly Ringwald dancing, but many ideas and styles from the 80′s keep creeping back each year. I first noticed some 80′s influences a few years ago and then they disappeared again. Recently these trends are popping back into current pop culture.
Here are 5 Eighty’s Comebacks, like em or not:
1. Venetian Blinds style sunglasses.
Remember these? Well they are back and once again we can have limited vision while trying to look cool at the same time. These were totally rad back in the day. You can order some via shuttershadesonline.com/main.html
2. Leg Warmers
You can find leg warmers in all different colors and prints at any department store. I doubt I’ll sport them now but there was something fun about wearing legwarmers over my skinny jeans. I felt like I could break into a Flashdance move whenever I felt inclined. Maybe I’ll try them again these days and moonwalk down the store aisles. If I feel so inclined that is.
How cute is this? Now they have baby legwarmers: babylegs.com/
3. Neon
Bright orange, lime green, fluorescent pink, a blast of yellow! Yep all those colors are back on the shelves coloring everything from big hoop earrings, big belts, and torso shirts with leggings. Luckily, with the fall season upon us many stores are turning down the lights on these bright frocks and opting for duller hues.

4. Ghostbusters
The Ghostbusters movie premiered in 1984. It spawned cartoons, video games and even a Ghostbusters 2. According to Sci Fi Wire, Ghostbusters 3 is in the works. Looks like some of the original Ghostbusters like Dan Akroyd, and Bill Murray will be involved. The big question for director Ivan Reitman will be, “Who you gonna call?” Maybe Ray Parker Jr or should they get these Latvian guys?
5. Mr. T and the A-Team
I pity the fool who believes this one. According to Wikipedia, a movie is planned for July 2009, based on the A-Team. I wonder what Mr. T has to say about that? Here he is talking all things 80′s fashion:
