Teddy’s Airship Sets Sail Again
Written by Suzanne on March 3, 2010Yes its true kiddos! Your talking friend, Teddy Ruxpin, has set sail in his Airship to a store near you. I saw the cute little fellow on display at Costco last night. I’m not sure when Teddy made a comeback but it was the first time I saw him in like 20 some years. Wow, time flies!

Ok, I have to say, there’s a commercial up there for the My Buddy dolls – those because so very creepy after Chuckie.

YIKES most dolls seem creepy to me even before Chuckie. Do you remember my Valley of the Dolls post?

For Christmas one year we got a knock-off Teddy Ruxpin, LOL named something like Talkative Tony. I still remember the story it came with “Billy, the one horned goat” and throughout it would sing the chorus “Billy, billy looked so silly he was born without a horn.” Billy is dejected by friends, then at the end you find out that Billy was a unicorn after all, magic!
Our fascination with said bear lasted approximately 30 seconds. Luckily, my oldest brother put in a heavy metal cassette and turned up the volume, it was great fun to see fake ruxpin open his mouth and keep it open, blinking, as loud 80′s heavy metal poured out… That was fun.
