Valley of the Dolls
Written by Suzanne on January 26, 2009After all this talk about VH1′s Sober House, I decided to pick up the novel Valley of the Dolls from my local library. This cult classic is about the friendship between three women, the perils and rewards of fame, and chemical dependency.
The word “dolls” in the title is a slang term for downers, a.k.a. mood altering drugs.
Check out these eerie dolls, a.k.a. toy dolls. Talk about mood altering!
One of the most cherished dolls on network TV has to be Mrs. Beasley from the 60’s hit Family Affair. Remember, Mrs. Beasley talks! You can get your own special friend here.
The urban legend of Robert the Doll haunts the internet with videos of him clutching his teddy on display at The Fort East Martello Museum and Gardens. I can’t decide which one freaks me out more, Robert the Doll or the robotic voice of the narrator in this video.

I remember Saucy and Giggles and Mrs. Beasley. I never had heard of Robert the Doll. Great haunting story.

Dolls, especially baby dolls, have always creeped me out. I did not like them when I was little and was terrified of the ones in my room that people would give me. Shudder. I have never given B baby dolls as a result, she’s never had one and she’s never asked for one either thank goodness! They are worse than clowns for me. I don’t like them either!

that story is kinda Creepy! The dolls that bother me the most are the ones that poop! Remember those? I had one when I was little that I could ‘feed’ baby food and then almost instantly (lol) the doll needed a diaper change! I also won’t buy my daughter the ones that talk, probably due to the Twilight Zone?

@M ah yes the Twilight Zone, could be. Lifeless objects mimicking life is very eerie.

*** Now introducing Robert the Doll!
Are your kids misbehaving? Won’t eat their vegetables, always talking back?
One night with their new Robert the doll will change that. Robert comes with rocking chair, dim light and ambient breathing sounds CD, nightmares may vary, some adult assembly required. ***
